Skeuchords

Skeuchords are a compositional tool that I am personally developing and creating. It is interesting in its creation as its development fuels its usage and vice-versa. By using and integrating this concept within works and pieces, I hope to create a more organic and cohesive compositional tool and language.

Skeuchords

In its most simple form, a skeuchord is just a collection of pitches created with the intention of being used for further material generation. A collection of notes with one note set as the central pitch, but not necessarily the root or 'tonic.'

Chordal Generation

In developing the unique sonic palette for each skeuchord, a subset of pitch collections is systematically developed. The subsets can be expanded upon by utilizing rotations and other manipulations

Rhythmic Generation

By assigning non-arbitrary values to each pitch segment and then processing and scaling the result, vast amount of rhythms and phrases can be generated organically.

Transformations and Morphing

This is possibly the most complex process in using skeuchords to generate material. However, the process has been carefully developed and organized to allow for a consistently organic generation of variations from an initial chordal 'seed.'
